Welcome to St Helens Coalition of Disabled People

Established in 1994, St Helens Coalition of Disabled People (CDP) is an independent, user led charitable organisation run by and for disabled people. As an organistions we are committed to valuing everyone's life skills, experience and individuality to enable positive change.

The Coalition works to the social model of disability advocating that barriers, prejudice and exclusion by society (purposely or inadvertently) are what defines who is disabled within our society. We recognise that while some people have physical, intellectual or psychological differences, these do not disable people. It is society’s failure to accommodate these differences that results in people becoming disabled

The aim of the CDP is to assist disabled people living or working in St Helens to overcome barriers experienced by. We actively promote independent living and empowerment by providing and managing a range of services in response to the aspirations and needs identified by disabled people.
